The National Energy Solutions Institute-Smart Energy Source Association kicked off their first advisory board meeting on June 2, where the recipients of four different research projects presented their projects.

The NESI-SES Association board recently awarded a combined $165,000 to fund various research energy solution oriented research projects.

David Swank, NESI-SES Association CEO, gave an overview of the association.  Jillianne Tebow, Central Rural Electric Cooperative chief operating officer; and Courtney Arnall, CREC communications specialist spoke on the association’s three principles: collaboration, collective intelligence and business analytics and how the research projects strategically link to the association’s mission and vision. Eric Fox, CREC systems integration coordinator, presented an overview and tutorial about Energy UpLink and the NESI-SES Association Research Gateway.

The researchers discussed various topics such as UAS for infrastructure inspection, privacy issues in Smart Grid data sharing, biomass and heavy metal control of coal residue. Advisory panels will be assigned to each research project to give researchers a holistic resource throughout the process. More information regarding each research project can be found on Energy UpLink at, www.TheEnergyUpLink.com. Individuals have the opportunity to connect to the researchers through this platform to ask questions regarding their research and engage in current conversations. Energy UpLink is available for free to everyone interested in being more involved in the energy sector.
